December 1, 2013 - Kyiv, Ukraine. More than 300,000 demonstrators chased away police to rally in the center of Ukraine's capital on Sunday, defying a government ban on protests on Independence Square, in the biggest show of anger over the president's refusal to sign an agreement with the European Union. Thousands of demonstrators tried to storm the nearby presidential administration building. In the early hours of the morning, on orders from Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, armed with truncheons and tear gas, the Russian-speaking police from Eastern Ukraine pummelled the peaceful demonstration, smashing heads and kicking people on the ground. Never in its 22 years as an independent country has Ukraine seen such violence. The standoff continues, with more demonstrators arriving. Let us pray for the safety of our people, relatives, friends, clergy, hierarchs and monastics in Ukraine. The violence can be viewed in the following short videos:

October 12, 2013 - Milwaukee, WI. Parishioners, Khrystyna Lysyuk and Ihor Kudrynskyy, were united in Holy Matrimony at Solus Christi Skete with Vladyka Ioan officiating and Fr. Archdeacon Abbot Sergiy (Larin) assisting. The newlyweds are pictured outside following the wedding with Ihor’s sister, Dr. Iryna Nemesh and his brother-in-law, Andriy Nemesh. Ihor’s Godson, Daniel Nemesh, served as flower boy. We sincerely wish the newlyweds, Khrystyna and Ihor, all God’s blessings and the fulfillment of their every dream. МНОГАЯ И БЛАГАЯ ЛЕТА ВАМ!

January 27, 2013 - March 26, 2013. Milwaukee, WI.  Due to the critical illness of our beloved Metropolitan Ioan, his hospitalization and subsequent lung surgery which are the result of pneumonia, we will not be posting news to the website at this time. Clergy, monastics and the people of our jurisdiction will be updated as to Vladyka Ioan’s progress and recovery. We ask for your prayers for Vladyka’s recovery and thank you for the many cards, telephone calls, Molebens and Divine Liturgies which you have offered for his recovery. Currently, he is intubated and is still in intensive care and will be for some time. Please contact Fr. Archdeacon Sergiy Larin directly for current information and updates on Vladyka Ioan’s progress and recovery.

December 25, 2012 - Milwaukee, WI. His Beatitude Metropolitan Ioan blessed our new Reader, Ivan, to this Minor Order to serve the monastic parish in Milwaukee. Congratulations to Ivan, and Many Years, dearest brother.
